Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory – B77A High Bay Expansion, Berkeley, CA
This 2200 sq ft expansion of an existing high bay research facility was constructed to expand the available LBNL B77A space to accommodate two specific large research equipment pieces, including a 27,000 pound furnace and 30,000-pound autoclave. A new open bay steel structure with insulated wall and roof panels was constructed to integrate with the existing building. A new roof top mechanical platform and exterior yard were created to accommodate a new dedicated Mechanical and Controls system. Due to the nature of the equipment to be accommodated a new electrical feed was required within the new extension.
