Solas in collaboration with Architecture for Humanity developed this co-housing project for POOR, a collective who wanted to build inter-supportive affordable homes in this underdeveloped, low income location.

The scheme comprises 11 dwellings of different sizes and configurations, a community kitchen / restaurant, teaching space, office for the collective newspaper and a laundry all wrapped around a community garden.

The creation of a central gathering place or garden in this long narrow rectangular site was a key challenge that was addressed by the location of the two blocks of accommodation at either end of the site linked by bridges.
