UCSF – Proctor Foundation Offices, San Francisco
2,150 sq ft office renovation for the Proctor Foundation on the 3rd floor of the Medical Sciences Building. The project houses single offices for faculty members, shared offices with two workstations and an open collaboration area. The Proctor Foundation research and treat blindness in sub-Saharan Africa. They needed a flexible space that would provide cellular enclosed offices that also could be opened up and used like hotel open workstations. The use of frameless sliding glass doors that give onto an open collaboration area was a key response to this requirement. The open collaboration area was lined with oak panels with the overhead concrete slab and services exposed to create a warm, intimate and inviting space.
